There are fewer developers who understand the business logic buried inside older MS Access, Visual FoxPro, and other legacy applications. The Farber Consulting Group Inc. has been working with these systems for decades. Founder Doron Farber began developing custom software in 1985 using dBase III and later worked extensively with FoxBase, FoxPro, and Visual FoxPro before moving into .NET and Alpha Anywhere. That experience provides an important advantage when modernizing legacy applications: understanding the technology is only part of the job. The bigger challenge is understanding the business rules and processes embedded in the application. When documentation is incomplete or the original developers are no longer available, we use AI-assisted reverse engineering as part of our discovery process to help identify those rules, calculations, workflows, algorithms, and database relationships. We then use that understanding to modernize applications and move them toward secure web and cloud platforms. Our work also includes COBOL and mainframe migration, custom business software development, database modernization, AI integration, and ERP/CRM modernization. If your system runs the business and nobody dares touch it, we speak its language.
